Inktober 2018
Inktober is an annual challenge that occurs every October which involves drawing something everyday. The founder of this challenge makes a list of prompts to inspire participants to draw. My biggest challenge for me in previous years was keeping up with the challenge throughout the entire month. I usually grew tired of the prompts given to me and would give up after two weeks.
So how did I manage to finish this Inktober challenge?
I wanted to research how other people approached this project in previous years. My top three findings from successful past Inktober artists included the following:
Keep drawings in one space.
Have consistent materials to work with.
Don't focus on the prompts. Make your own consistent theme.
I dedicated time every day in October to draw mountains that inspired me. I limited myself to 30 minutes and wrote out a list of mountains to keep me grounded in my theme.Â
The Results
I successfully drew 31 mountains and completed my very own Inktober challenge.
Things I loved:
Thinking outside the box allowed me to complete this challenge.
I focused on a topic that I loved and made this challenge my own.
Things I would do differently:
I would reduce the number of mediums I used.
Plan more during September rather than plan prompts every five days.
The following are a some of my favorites from this project.
